Embedding a coaching culture
"I have worked with Clare and the team for the past 3 years and have always been impressed by their desire to understand the business drivers for the work we are doing, their understanding of what we are trying to achieve and ultimately the quality of their work. The quality of work, and partnership with our organization in delivery has been excellent"
Head of Talent – Hyde Housing Group
Objective
To build a robust approach to embedding a coaching culture, central to Hyde’s approach going forward.
Method
This has been an evolving approach to build capability and capacity within Hyde.
Programme 1 Internal Coach – Directors and Senior Managers have been through a foundation level coaching programme combining group learning, action learning sets, peer coaching and external coaching, leading to assessment and graduation. Ongoing
Programme 2 Advance Coaching Skills for Mangers – Focusing on the how and when coaching is used effectively by managers as part of their leadership repertoire. A very practical programme over 2 modules and action learning sets combined with peer coaching allow the delegates to practice the skills and tools in more depth so they become part of their leadership behaviours. Ongoing
Executive Coaching – Senior managers continue to be offered external coaches to support development, but coaching is now offered more broadly by drawing on the internal coaches.
Outcome
- Evidence of a coaching style being used as part of managers leadership repertoire and not as an isolated event
- Better conversations around development and performance
- More people being coached for development
- Common language
- A greater understanding of the value of coaching
- Achievement of IIP “Gold” status
